Vladimir Putin has returned Russia to the aggressive policies of the old Soviet Union.

Since he took over in 1998, the Russian GDP has gone up about six fold, much of the money comes from arms sale to countries like Iran and Syria which have plenty of oil money to pay for the most sophisticated weapons.
