Can I just point out that global warming/climate change is a GLOBAL problem? Petty squabbling along the lines of, "my country's better than yours - yah, boo sucks!" is not going to help.

But, then, I believe that the very real environmental threats that our species (and every other species on the planet) faces is partly down to the fact that, deep down, most people in the 'developed' world still see the environment as completely irrelevant - an 'externality' as mainstream economists would have it. I suspect that, in a couple of decades time, when the the American Mid-west is a charred desert, countless low-lying parts of the world are under water and the island of Britain is a sodden swamp etc., etc., etc. people will still be resolutely ignoring the environment and treating it as an irrelevance.
