What ever happened to the Pony Express?

Telstar was owned by A T& T. It was small, only 77kg, whereas the new Echostar XVII is a hefty 6100kg. Its service only lasted six months, but it is still in orbit. (Info gleaned from google and Wikipedia.

The same year, 1862, Telstar Drugs opened in Calgary, Canada. Its large rocket-shaped sign has been taken down, but is preserved by Glenbow Nuseum.

Echostar XVII will facilitate rapid communication in Canada; Xplornet Communications will use this satellite to "provide high-speed broadband to rural Canada."

"No Hiding Place."
