Wonders of Sleep

Deep, restful sleep
Came to me last night;
the first in ages...
No pain, no tossing and turning
Still, quiet, perfect temperature.
At one point the stillness was so quiet
It awakened me. A visit to the "loo"
Brought a warm, fuzzy kitten
Reaching up to brace one paw on my knee
With the other outstretched and a soft "mew"
I pick her up, cradle her like a baby
Croon and rock her back and forth in my arms.
She closes her eyes, her head instantly relaxes
And falls to one side of my arm. So soft, content
Safe and funny...she has made me smile more in the
Past two weeks than anything.
