Thread Name: Hedy West Song - Hubbard ?
Subject: ADD: Hubbard
There was a Benefit Concert on 23rd Sept 1964 at The Hollywood Bowl
which may be heard at http://current.com/149cckc

Hedy West performs with Joe & Eddie, Dillards,Theodore Bikel. The Gray Singers, The Modern Folk Quartet, Pete Seeger (with Ramblin" Jack Elliot), and Joan Baez

Hedy is on second and sings the following song which I don't recognise. Did Hedy write this one, or is there an older source ?

HUBBARD

Oh Hubbard, Oh Hubbard, you served me wrong
You kept me a-loving these eight years long
You kept me a-loving in anguish and pain
I hope I'll be hanged if I ever love again

When these young men first begin to love
It's nothing but your honey and your little turtle dove
When you're married it's no such a thing
Get up and make the bed you big lazy thing

When I was single I lived at my ease
Now I'm married I've got a husband to please
And two young children to maintain
Oh how I wish I was single again

One cries Ma I wanna piece of bread
Another cries Ma I wanna go to bed
I wash 'em, dress 'em and put 'em all to bed
Before their father cusses and wishes they's dead

repeat first verse
