both my nan and her brother used to sing this to me as a child, and I always wondered its origins. I'm 17 now, but my nan is now 89, and loosing her memory of the song. I also lost my great uncle, my nan's brother to Altziemers and its complications two years ago. its a relief to hear it being sung by other families, as I'd partially forgot the words, and this has brought it all back. I want to abe able to sing this to my children, when I have them. I'm from Sandwell, in the West Midlands.
