Thread Name: Tech: BOSE Sound System
Subject: RE: Tech: BOSE Sound System
We used to have a "bookcase stereo" set that consisted of a large central unit that housed an AM/FM radio, CD player (one CD at a time), and cassette player, with two separate speaker cabinets, each of which contained two speakers, and a fairly sizable sub-woofer that sat on the floor. We bought it over several other smaller set-ups because the sound was excellent. But to call it a "bookcase stereo" was a bit ridiculous because it occupied most of the top of a bureau of drawers, with a little room left over for a case of our most-played CDs.
We sold it and got a Bose with a 3 CD changer (that's 3 CDs in addition to the CD player in the main unit. It also has an auxiliary input in case I want to plug in something else, such as a cassette player or whatever. It has a less that two square foot footprint on the same bureau, and for the life of me, how they manage to get
THAT MUCH FULL SPECTUM SOUND
out of those itty-bitty speakers, and without a sub-woofer, I don't know.
Crank it up a bit and you can feel it rumbling through the floor. "No highs, no lows?" Not our experience.
