The number of street traders has gone down considerably in the last few years, with the exception of the fast food vans. Musical instrument traders have taken to pop up shops for the week rather than stalls in the street and the policy of moving all street traders to Church street seems to have worked well, there were only a few this year (mind you, the weather didn't favour them greatly).

Children busking. A lot to be said about that, both pro and con. My son did it a few times returning from concertina class, playing his two polkas and a jig for half an hour before lunch and making a bit of money which seemed a fortune to a ten year old.

That type of casual busker aside there a number of young children sitting there all day, without being able to play much at all, who don't seem to be doing it for the fun of it. Best not to encourage them.
