The Black Horse and the Fleece were for a short time under the same husband and wife team. However there seemed to have been a parting of the ways. I could be wrong about this its a shame as running the two pubs looked like a life line for the Black Horse. A lot of local stuff going on but years ago the Whitby Folk Club moved from the Fleece due to aloud TV and midweek football. The more forward looking might see a links between the price of Beer and the cost of property especialy in Whitby. I was shocked to witness as I aproached the Fleece last year a folky step outside the Fleece and pour a 1/3 of pint of beer down the outside drain. This was from what looked like a fresh pint. I asked for his reason and he said that it just did not taste right. Who wants the agro of complaing? Still it at 3 pounds a pint it hardly going to increase sales. Still I think it was the first time I have witnessed a bad pint in Whitby not including the First inn and Last out but that was Landlords ago.
