My mother still remembered what they had done to her when she went there and would never talk about it, kinda like a veteran of horrible combat where her position had been overrun and the gunships and napalm and bombs had to be called in on herself. Whenever we'd ask about her school days she'd get that thousand-yard stare of someone who has seen too much and just sigh deeply.
