It was a very emotional experience. Not so much for the songs, although 'Little Pot Stove' nearly blew the roof off the tent, but more for the example of what is possible with lots of love and friendship. The electrical atmosphere was created largely by Nic's voice accompanied by Nic's idiosyncratic guitar playing…only it was son, Joe, who was the guitarist and dad, NIc who supplied the voice. Joe Jones should get the recognition he deserves for superlative understanding of the guitar style of his father…after all it takes a bit more than mere genes!
The whole thing was moved along by the gentle humour and occasional accompaniment of Belinda Hooley, whose support meantt hat the Jones boys were not totally exposed on a main concert stage. There were a lot of tears shed in that tent but it was all joy and an uplifting example of what the human spirit can achieve. Personally, I think the Olympics will have to go a long way to top this in those terms!
