I'm with Gurney. Cannot eat a fresh tomato. Have tried and given up. Soup, salsa, sauce are fine, good even, but not fresh.

But R loves them and I think that sandwich described above would be a nice treat for him. I'll try that with thanks. I have done an open face in the toaster oven - tomato under cheese - cheddar of course. And maybe some salsa on the bottom for tang.
