Re posting this because i started it about 3 hours ago and then got busy with visitors.

Just home from a hard day's work. Think I'll go out in the garden and eat me a ripe one before I have my beef stew that i made last night from potatoes, carrots, turnip, onions, peas and yellow beans (string beans)that I planted.

I have tried also a fresh tomato sliced on a spread of salmon as a sandwich. Very good indeed.
Spaw, my heart goes out to you. I was thinking just a few days ago that i hoped that no canker would develop. Fingers are crossed. Last year i got them and i think it was because i was pigging out on those sweet things.
John, I must try your recipe. Bet it would wash down real nice with a good cold beer.
Guy Clarke has been one of my favorites singers since way way back when. I have his album with Home Grown Tomatoes on it and i have sang it many times. Thanks Wesley and 999 for posting what you did. Brought back fine memories.
Thank you all.
