I don't know if anything is better than a fresh tomato. However, I think fresh butter and sugar corn on the cob is a close runner-up. If any of you don't use the same term, butter and sugar corn has both white and yellow small kernels on each cob. I used to eat it with butter but gave that up for health reasons. Now I love it plain but eat only one cob a day and count it as a starch, not a vegetable. I also eat the smallest cobs I can find. It's the only corn on the cob I eat, and I look forward to it every summer.
