Lived in a small community and walked the ditches as a child finding the odd pop bottle that could be bought back for a few pennies. But my number one income was from going door to door selling. Walked miles visiting every home asking if they were interested in ordering seeds for the spring planting. I Would also at a different time take orders for Christmas Cards,and Easter cards. Valentine cards were by far the best sales of all. Don't think this would be the case today. But maybe it would. Anyone out there ever done this or took orders from these children who were trying to make a few nickles for their work. I remember that it was hard at 11/14yrs.(1958/1961) but I did it. When i look back I can remember the the good spot's (house) to stop and hope they would order again.
This was not "Child Labor". It was just what it was.
