Subject: RE: BS: So here I am then
Without commenting on any real content or behavior in this thread, I would just like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that behind these words lie real people.

We may get a lot of folks new to our community here that are expatriates of older, less civil, more common bulletin board systems out there on the net. Perhaps taking such a aggressive attitude when introducing oneself is merely a defensive strategy. Kind of like your first day at a new prison… gonna be a thug or a little bitch?

So to you, "I am really famous and bollox to you lot", this is a different kind of forum. Many of us actually know each other in the real world, and many others will soon meet. This place is real, and we try to respect each other because we never know when we may need a place to stay, or a snog, or a prayer, or people to show up at our gig… We are more than just words on these pages.

And to my fellow Mudcatters, these refugees come to the Mudcat scared and confused that the Mudcat is like other forums. We need to consider a strategy for putting out their flame while welcoming and educating them with an assumption, a leap of faith if you will, that they have something to offer. IARFABTYL is not the first to enter with this attitude and I am sure he will not be the last.
