Incidentally, Bernard Share's "Slanguage", better on northern speech than Dublinisms, but still... gives the definition as possibly from the sweet, juicy centre of a roll of Goodbody's tobacco called Irish Roll.The word dicey, of course, means chancy in Dublin; it would not be unknown for one Dub to shake the head doubtfully at another and say "would you go in that car? I'd say it's a bit dicey." To which the other might well reply: "Dicey? I'd say it's bunched."
