My great grandfather ( who passed long before I was born) used to sing this song to my mother. She in turn sang it to her children and I now sing it to my grandchildren. Her version went like this...

Grandmas been patching up ( name of child your singing to, ie Heathers ) breeks, till she/he's got no breeks left at all...
