I'm a little late joining this thread, I'm afraid I don't get to check in at Mudcat too often. Visited Art & Carol at the nursing home in Crystal Lake on July 1st. Art was able to chat a bit, though he was obviously uncomfortable and had to nod out (fall asleep) often. He had not been able to kick that infection, which was soon to require hospitalization July 4th as Chris has reported above.
I was glad I got the chance to visit while I was in the Chicago area. It was nice to get to know Carol, whom I had only met briefly years ago. It's a rough situation for them both, but at least they have each other and the rest of their family nearby.
My thoughts and love go out to them.
