There was at least one Labor Day parade in RI. It was in East Providence. Also, there was this "— In Rhode Island's capital, about 200 union members, students and Occupy Providence members marched from Brown University to the city's financial district, arguing that educational and financial institutions must help fix the economy and rebuild the middle class." Admission today was free at the Museum of Work and Culture in Woonsocket, RI.

Next weekend I'll be at Sunday's Labor and Ethnic Heritage Festival at the Slater Mill Historic Site from noon to 5. I've started a thread on Mudcat about that.

I have recently attended three school committee meetings in North Kingstown, RI, opposing the privatization of the custodian's jobs. It's another blow to labor, and I'm depressed about it.
