GUEST (in 2010) says..."It was Hank Williams Junior and a band - can't remember their name, and every song was a gem."

Well, every song is a gem (or close to it) but Bill Clifton is a real person and not Hank, Jr.

Before Bill Clifton moved to England in 1963, his record company had him do 33 songs, enough to make three albums while he was away. I believe "Code of the Mountains" was one of the LPs and came out on Starday.

He was backed by all four members of The Contry Gentlemen plus twin fiddles by brothers named Justice on some songs. Mike Seeger, who worked with Bill Clifton in the late '50s adds some great guitar on a few tracks, such as "Louis Collins".

All 33 songs were put on a Bear Family double LP set, probably in the 1980s. No CD except the 8 CD Box Set which requires a second mortgage to buy.
