Hope you see this before you leave but there is the Denholm Folk Club (between Jedburgh and Hawick) at the Cross Keys on the Thursday night. Entry is free.

The Kelso Folk & Live Music Club's open mic starts of at the Ace Centre (adjoins the Ice Rink)at Kelso at around 8pm on the Friday night. Entry is £2 with £1 going towards the club to help pay for the room at the Ace whilst the other is a bottling charge from the Ace itself. Take your own alcohol whilst soft drinks and food are available at the premises. The open mic is any kind of music so don't expect it to be particularly folk based.

That finishes up around 10pm or just after but the music continues down at the Cobbles Inn which is a lively pub atmosphere. Again it depends on who turns up but this tends to veer more towards the folk side.

I'm sure one of the pubs in Spittal (on the south side of the Tweed in Berwick) has a session on a Wednesday night. Can't remember the name but some locals should be able to help if you ask.

As far as gigs go in the Borders area Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham are at the Buccleuch Centre in Langholm on Thursday evening. Kan are playing at the Eastgate in Peebles; Fidil at the Heart of Hawick; and Gina McCormack& Nigel Clayton at Melrose Parish Church - all on the Friday evening
