Yeah, or even roasting the beans, then making the instant coffee. I used to drink Nescafe when I drank instant regularly. It was OK but bitter, no good without sugar and creamer.

You can get a drip coffee maker and buy ready to brew coffee. that's what I do.

Also keep in mind that the flavor of Coffee and tea can be ruined by poor water quality. If you don't already do so you might try filtering the water and making sure there are no foul tasting mineral deposits in your kettle. I dislike the taste of chlorinated water in my coffee.
