Michael, why can't you just accept that in the late 18thc the phrase 'foggy dew' was used to describe the dew that lies on the grass during foggy conditions and thereafter, as Dick simply states? It may somewhere along the line have had some other significance but without any direct proof there's not a lot of point in prolonging the agony.
