I bought a Zeidler archtop for about 3k and never played it(his instruments had an incredible sound and depth, but you had to work with the instrument for a while in order to get it to speak) so I sold it for what seemed a good price. John sadly passed away in 2002, and I recently saw someone asking about 20k for one.

It was the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen.
