So far as Churchill's drinking is concerned, it does seem pretty clear he could put it away. I like the comment by Professor Warren Kimball of Rutgers, who wrote several erudite books on Roosevelt and Churchill, who said that Churchill was not an alcoholic -"no alcoholic could drink that much!"
