To add to buddhuu's comment--a few years back, tenors were rare, but now they've gotten quite popular;they definitely sound ukey, but they sound a bit fuller, and there is more room to move around on the neck--there is also a trend toward using non-re-entrant tuning(meaning the G string(in GCEA tuning) is tuned low, giving you even more room--
