I forgot to mention that I've been decluttering crows. They were stealing the peanuts that I put out for "my" squirrel. At first there were only two or three but were becoming so plentiful that the squirrel was lucky to get one or two of his peanuts before all had disappeared.
I modified a broken plastic watering can to make a "Crow proof squirrel feeder". So far it seems to work. No crows are hanging around now.
