gnu, back in the days when I had an apple tree in my yard I jarred the extra apple sauce and put it in the freezer. It freezes nicely. Nowadays when I'm hungry for it I buy five apples (3 tart and 2 sweet) and keep the extra in my fridge- hasn't spoiled yet.
