FWIW, I don't think it would be really helpful for us to speculate too much in a public thread for various reasons, not least of which is for Ebbie's sake. Just my opinion.

As for house fires...the first time I ever knew anyone who lost their house to fire was after I joined Mudcat and since there have been several, as noted. I think it may seem unusually high because of the concentration we have here of a smallish community. That, with the high speed news we get everywhere, may make it seem more common?
