PADDY & THE ANGEL
Nigel Parsons 16/11/12

Now, Paddy was an Irishman, I'm sure that's safe to say.
A good devoted Christ-i-an, at work, and in his play.
His local church was welcoming, that's where he went to pray,
Ev'ry single Sunday morn, and twice on Christmas Day.

The priests in church all loved him, and the sisters did as well.
They let him read the Lesson, and they let him ring the bell.
He was a good parishioner, as any there could tell.
He even cleaned the toilets, 'cos he didn't mind the smell.
(or,) …. swung the censer, …..

As Paddy wandered homeward from the pub one Friday night
He got a shock that almost had him fainting with the fright.
The paving slabs ahead of him were bathed in glorious light.
'Twas then he spied the Angel draped in robes of glowing white.

The Angel said "I've come to you, a messenger from God
He's seen the good you're doing for your fellows on this sod.
He's sending you a message, which you may find rather odd:
"When moving bricks, ignore the lift, and USE YOUR BLOODY HOD!""
