Thread Name: Wanted: Songs of Cape Breton and P.E.I.
Subject: RE: Wanted: Songs of Cape Breton and P.E.I.
that guy should get more than thirty days in the pictou county jail for that one.

but the nova scotia government has two good song books, songs of nova scotia and songs of capre breton.

alistair macgillivary edited the songs of cape breton, he also wrote song for the mira, and he may have edited the other.

for pei teressa doyle recorded an outstanding album called prince edward isle adieu, with a dozen great traditional pei songs sung by one of the reat voices of out time.i especially love the title song "prince edard isle adieu" and "when johnny went plowing for kearon". which i sing, even though in the words of mirella from anne of green gables , i am a heathen nova scotian

there is also a book of pei folk songs which i have burried somewhere. called "drive dull cares away" i think. if your still looking post and i'll get the info. we moved twice in two years and some of my books are hard to find.

all the songs listed are also good.

if you actually like country, then charlie mackinnon is your man. he wrote some good cape breton country, the best being "the green an lofty mountains by the waters of bra d'or"
