A few minutes into the programme, Mike Scott, the estimable presenter, interrupted his item to tell us in a halting, incredulous voice that news has just come in that President Kennedy had been shot. That was at about 6.35pm UK time. Granada TV was the first to break the news in the UK, I discovered later.
