Hi Frank,
First let me say that I am honoured to have you respond to my reply to your posting! I have been a Weavers fan for many years and appreciate your legacy!
While Cape Breton is a very musical island and many songs are composed here there is not a lot in English that would qualify as pure traditional. That is because French and Gaelic were the predominant languages until the early 1900's. There is all kinds of stuff written in English since then, but most of it has known authours. I am interested in your wife's family ties to the region as well. I would have loved to have met you both when you were here!
Charlie LaRade who ran the music store in Cheticamp died a few days ago. He will be missed! The fiddler member of the Rankins was John Morris. His sister Raylene went to join him recently, so we are losing some of our stars.
All being said if you want to PM me I can probably send you some of what you seek.
Best regards'
