It was not against the Arabs - whose land, in any event, it wasn't in any sense: they lived there at the will & pleasure of the Turkish governors and never had a state of their own there: which renders your comparison with Ireland far beyond absurd, into the realms of loony fantasy in comparing like with absolutely unlike.
