Actually, there are a few excellent reasons for making private messages public. The first one that comes to mind is that you don't think quite enough people know what an utter dickhead you are. Just post the text of a PM someone sent you and, voila, the whole forum knows it as surely as if you'd hired an airplane to drag a "Look at Me! I'm a Dickhead!" banner overhead. And for a lot less money.
