Rockabilly Ronniw Hawkins, who became a Canadian in 1964, was "the mam' who brought drummer Levon to Canada with his band the Hawkes, which later "morphed" into the Band. This paved the road for the likes of Canadian "blue-eyed soul" singer Burton Cummings. Few bands could hold their own with the Beatles, in their peak, like "the Guess Who" did.

True, HK, Canadians are not significant in the roots of black-gospel soul music.
