Well. Found and labelled the box to send stuff to my sister, got my meds picked up and some stuff found that I couldn't get at my regular grocery store (plus packaging tape so I can mail that package), paid the mortgage, stopped at the hardware store so THEY could get the battery compartment open on the flashlight that needed batteries so I got new batteries (and bought another flashlight just like it for the car -- don't tell Curmudgeon), got the few groceries I needed, and went to the post office to mail the package to my sister.

But when I got home I had to go back upstairs and attack the bookcase in front of the bedroom door. I had left piles of books blocking the bedroom door, more piles on the bed, and had a really interesting time getting into the bedroom with almost no floorspace in the hall in front of the door.

It wasn't easy and I'm going to ache tomorrow, but it's now not only better organized (shelves on BOTH bookcases), but there's now only one tall pile of smallish books tucked into the corner on the floor. When Tom comes upstairs, it shouldn't prove an obstacle or danger.

Also found stuff (from seminars on typography and page layout that I've given and newsletters I've written) to file in my yearly ephemera files.

Made Italian sausage, onion and pepper with provolone and lots of mayo sandwiches for supper with enough sautéed peppers and onions left over for the pizza Tom wants to make tomorrow night.

And did some research and also dug out a magnifying glass to be able to send the information on my circa 1957 Noblet/Normandy clarinet to a friend who may be able to find a buyer for me.

Now I'm grabbing a wee dram and going upstairs to finish the last 40 pages of a book...after I move some more stuff off the bed. Sigh.

It's like those little games we had as kids, the little flat ones with the numbered squares and the one empty square. And you were supposed to move them all around to put them in order. Organizing my house is like that. The problem is...I don't have an empty square.
