I dont think D B ever had any real recognition as a Jazz pianist - His strength was in his abilities as an arranger and selector of musicians ! Paul Desmond came into his own with Brubeck - Joe Morello was one of the few drummers at the time who could hande D B 's ideas and the same goes for Eugene Wright . A CLASSIC example of the whole being INFINITELY greater than the sum of the parts . R I P Mister B
