I would suggest the Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band's "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." It's two cds, more than two hours worth of great music by the Dirt Band with such as Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Roy Acuff, Mother Maybelle Carter, Vassar Clements, Merle Travis, Jimmy Martin: some of the real greats of traditional and bluegrass music. Lots of great songs and great instrumentals. An absolutely indispensable album, and though it's not cheap, for the sheer volume, the quality of the songs and of the performances, it can't be beat. ---seed
