I, along with many others, was at the UK National Folk Festival at Sutton Bonnington when the terrible news broke.

I can remember the numbness we all felt, even those with no knowledge of sport, as the scenes came over the TV.

I am certain that those within the folk world never, ever believed the terrible lies that were peddled by the gutter press, politicians and the police in the ensuing days. We were even more certain through contacts with Liverpudlians that as a community, rotten apples aside, they could never be as portrayed.

It seems at last that some sort of justice will be prevail and the government has, belatedly, promised to meet all legal costs (the cynics might say it is public money and perhaps the legal profession could make themselves more honest by actually providing the service pro bono and maybe that is something to push for).

Sadly the families affected will never find real peace, just hopefully to use a cliche, closure.
