My, but that sounds like something from a tabloid. No sources, no statistics, carefully snide without being actionable.

I don't believe it myself. Most of my friends are cultivated Americans, and we don't even watch television, much less try to relive it.

And I hsve been reading for years that well-heeled outsiders have been buying up village properties to the point where villagers can no longer afford to live in them. Americans have little to do with it.
