I was friendly with David Simons (I think his name had an s at the end) on Martha's Vineyard Island, MA in the summer of 1964. He was living with the Kushi family, a macrobiotic commune. He played as a solo act at my coffee house, the Cafe Moska, fairly frequently. He was a unique talent. I think he was no longer in the Kweskin Jug Band at that time. I remember him fondly. Lost track of him after that summer. I also saw Dr. West's Medicine Show & Junk Band in Boston in the mid-sixties. He was not playing with them at the time, but that is not to say he didn't join them later -- that's possible. Norman Greenbaum was definitely a different person.
