I've just been listening to Mark Radcliffe's BBC4 programme, "The Richest Songs in the World", and guess which was top, even though it wasn't originally copyrighted. Apparently copyright on "Happy Birthday" was extended in Europe till 2016 and America till 2030. Interestingly, three out of the top ten are Christmas songs written by Jewish songwriters.
