Here is a tip with wild clams.

If the wild clams cross a provincial boundary, they must be inspected by a federal agency/lab. If they are sold inside a province, they are only required to meet provincial inspection standards. The feds are (or have been) much better equipped to inspect these critters. So, I would prefer to roll the dice with those that may have been "federally inspected. If Canadian products go into the USA, they must be federally inspected to a standard acdepted by the USA (which, in the past, was lower than Canadian federal inspection standards- I am not sure if that has recently changed).
