Well, Tom, I'm just guessing that it might be the Fred Neil song, "Just a Little Bit of Rain." It was recorded by Linda Ronstadt, alone and with the Stone Poneys, and she certainly has a throaty, country-sounding voice. Mick Harvey and Jose Feliciano also recorded it.
Trouble is, I don't remember the song at all, and I couldn't find lyrics anywhere. You could click here and go to one of the online vendors in the "Support Mudcat" area. I know the Feliciano album is available. Like I say, though, I can't tell if it's the right song.
Maybe Art Thieme will know - I'll betcha he knew Fred Neil. Anybody else know the song?
