OK I guess it's NOT null and void, YET.

My 2 cents comes from a long bout with a nasty infection and major nursing efforts managing (and teaching me to manage) ongoing infection control: The "anti-bacterial" thing that happens with washing is the WASHING.

Thus, soaps labeled anti-bac kills germs on contact, and soaps used otherwise remove bacteria by washing them away. Beyond that, the body naturally moves infection away from itself if it has any opportunity to do so-- blood and exudate travel away from the blood supply unless prevented from doing so. Germs on skin are shed away from the body with shed skin cells. Etc etc etc. An intact immune system is usually most of what is needed.

But this is Mudcat, not a surgical suite-- it's just not a Defcon 3- worthy issue. It's the issue for the person who raised the subject and she has asked us to let it go. So let's do that!
