Perhaps there are people on Rock 'n' Roll message boards who fiercely debate whether it can only be Rock 'n' Roll if it meets the 1954 definition set down by the International Council of Rock 'n' Roll and listed in the Official Penguin Book of Rock 'n' Roll songs?.
