With plaudits from last years appearances at Thorndons 'Shedfest' and the Aldeburgh 'Beachfest' still ringing in their ears - Miss Veranne Doherty's bunch of disreputable-looking Rock'n Reelers will be heading back to their favourite pub in Edwardstone on Saturday 23rd February. Expect a variety of surprisingly heart-warming songs on the eternally popular themes of love, loss, disaster, transportation, parting, drinking and betrayal with a few hot Gypsies thrown in for good measure. Strangely, for a 'Traditional' folk/rock band, their repertoire is somewhat light on murder ballads and songs about riding out one May morning. However, if you like a selection of old Irish songs mixed with some contemporary offerings by the likes of Christy Moore, Van Morrison, The Waterboys, Saw Doctors, The Waifs, Steve Earle, The Levellers and Josh Ritter, then they may provide just the right accompaniment to the sampling of a pint (or six) of the fine ales from the Mill Green brewery.
