Four or five feet of snow on the back porch. I was able to shovel the front door free in case we have to get out. The cats are not happy with the wind - nor am I. But it is fun to watch Ralph and Carol blowing their driveway. Mine is strange. The car is absolutely clean. The driveway around it is buried.
Parts of the yard are completely clear with green showing through. Parts have five foot drifts.
When I was shovelling the front I thought I found a piece of my roof but it was a slice of bread - ????? The bird who nests in the holly bush then started screaming at me - poor thing. I tossed the bread under the bush where she can get it. Tomorrow when the winds die down I will leave her some blueberries. She or her heirs come back every year and nest in the holly. And every year I am greeted by screeching as I leave for work. Great entertainement for the cats. They can't possibly reach her through the branches but can sit in the living room window and glare menacingly. Seems to satisfy all parties involved.
Can't help but think of all the homeless people in Portland. Preble Street is trying to find volunteers to help serve meals but there is no way of getting there.
Donner Party just went by. Didn't invite them in. They looked hungry.
